Adam Gorman, owner of I. Gorman Jewelers, continues his parents’ legacy of running a beautiful boutique with world-renowned brands and a knowledgeable and friendly staff. C : How did you get into jewelry and watch retail?
AG : My grandfather was a jeweler, so I guess you could say I was lucky enough to be born into it.
C : What’s the favorite part of your day?
AG : Driving my daughter to school in the morning. Precious time that won’t last forever!
C : What’s the least favorite part of your day?
AG : Checking emails.

AG : ‘ Lust for life’ by Iggy Pop.

AG : Take a deep breath, listen, and empathize.

AG : The outline of a round brilliant cut diamond shape on the side of my ankle.

AG : Beach equipment rentals in San Diego. Heaven!

AG : Any island in the Caribbean.

AG : Weekly tennis and the occasional jog.
C : What’s the first piece of jewelry you fell in love with?
AG : A men’s handmade cuff bracelet by Atelier Zobel (still my favorite!)
C : How do you motivate your staff?
AG : By listening carefully and putting myself in their shoes before asking anything of them.
C : What’s on your desk?
AG : A crazy amount of sticky notes, financial documents, a book on fine watches, family pictures.
C : What’s the most difficult gemstone you have to work with/hardest to explain to customers?
AG : Emerald rings because of their softness and lack of durability. Customers don’t want to hear that they can’t wear it all the time.
