Official Rules

COUTURE Design Awards Submission Rules

Beginning in 2017, there will be thirteen (13) categories in the COUTURE Design Awards. These include:

  • Best of Bridal
  • Best of Colored Gemstones Below $20K (retail)
  • Best of Colored Gemstones Above $20K (retail)
  • Best of Diamonds Below $20K (retail)
  • Best of Diamonds Above $20K (retail)
  • Best of Gold
  • Best of Pearls
  • Best of Platinum
  • Best of Silver
  • Best of Innovative
  • Best of Haute Couture
  • Best of Men’s Jewelry (New Category!)
  • Best of Debuting at Couture (Only those brands that have never exhibited at COUTURE are eligible to enter this category in addition to one of the above design categories)

Each exhibiting designer may enter only ONE piece and must specify the category of entry (more information on category criteria is below). No jewelry suites will be accepted. The deadline to submit the completed entry form is April 14, 2017. The deadline to submit your image is May 5th, 2017.

A high-resolution photo of your finished piece must accompany your entry. It must be jpeg file with at least 300dpi resolution on a white or transparent background. Please send your photo to Erika.romagnoli@thecoutureshow.com if you do not include it with your form submission.

SUBMISSION CRITERIA:

  • All entries will be judged by a distinguished panel of judges that will include editors, retailers and a non-competing designer. Judges will take into account the quality of craftsmanship and materials used, originality and creativity. The winners of COUTURE Design Awards traditionally receive extensive media coverage, so please ensure that the piece you enter is representative of your highest standards of excellence and design acumen.
  • All entries will be displayed in specially designed showcases; you cannot supply your own display
  • All pieces must remain in the display cases for the duration of the show
  • Voting is anonymous
  • You may enter only ONE piece of jewelry (not one per category). No sets or suites will be accepted
  • The Bridal Category is the exception to the above rule. Bridal “sets” are permissible, but must be a set (i.e. engagement ring and wedding band) and not a “suite” (i.e. necklace and ring, bracelet and ring, etc.)
  • You must submit a high-resolution photo of the finished piece to be used during the awards show and included on our website following the event
  • In the case of pendants, please indicate whether a chain will be provided
  • Please note all special display requests on the entry form. We will try our best to accommodate requests in fairness to all exhibitors

NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE APRIL 14, 2017 DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION.

CATEGORY CRITERIA:

Entries submitted in any of the categories should be largely representative of that specific category. More specifics on each of the categories are as follows:

  • Best of Bridal includes pieces specifically intended for bridal, including both engagement rings and day-of bridal fashion fine jewelry
  • Best of Colored Gemstones Below $20K includes pieces that display the best use of colored gemstones in a design that retails below $20K
  • Best of Colored Gemstones Above $20k includes pieces that display the best use of colored gemstones in a design that retails above $20K
  • Best of Diamonds Below $20K includes pieces that best display diamonds in a design that retails below $20K
  • Best of Diamonds Above $20K includes pieces that best display diamonds in a design that retails above $20K
  • Best of Gold includes pieces that best display use of gold. These pieces can contain diamonds or other gemstones however, their primary feature should be excellence in gold metalwork. When combined with other metals, the piece should contain at least 70% gold.
  • Best of Pearl includes pieces that display the best use of pearl(s)
  • Best Platinum includes pieces that best display use of platinum. These pieces can contain diamonds or other gemstones however, their primary feature should be excellence in platinum metalwork. When combined with other metals, the piece should contain at least 70% platinum.
  • Best of Silver includes pieces that best display use of silver. These pieces can contain diamonds or other gemstones however, their primary feature should be excellence in silver metalwork. When combined with other metals, the piece should contain at least 70% silver.
  • Best of Innovative includes pieces that incorporate unique materials, techniques and/or functionality
  • Best of Haute Couture includes pieces that are distinctive in their exclusivity and/or extravagance
  • Best of Men’s Jewelry includes pieces that are intended to be wore by men
  • Best of Debuting at COUTURE should be selected for any brands that have never before exhibited at COUTURE in addition to one of the above categories.
