COUTURE Launches “COUTURE Press Preview”

New York, NY—COUTURE recently announced the launch of an inaugural COUTURE Press Preview, a New York City showcase of select COUTURE designers to an extensive group of trade and consumer media. This showcase will take place during New York Jewelry Market Week, on August 1, 2012, immediately following the JA New York Summer Show.
“We’ve heard feedback from the editors who regularly attend COUTURE that seeing designers’ collections throughout the year, in New York City, goes a long way towards gaining editorial coverage,” explains Chris Casey, Vice President of Nielsen Jewelry Group. “By offering a multi-designer exhibit, we are giving Couture designers an opportunity to reach an influential group of media in a turn-key environment at a fraction of the expense of creating a media preview on their own.”
Further reiterating the importance of this type of event is Claudia Mata, Jewelry Editor at W Magazine, “You never know what will spark a story idea, so I encourage designers to show me anything new they’re working on throughout the year. Seeing pieces in person is when the beauty of the work really comes to life!”
The timing of COUTURE Press Preview coincides with most print publications’ market research for holiday gift guides and winter fashion issues. Marion Fasel, jewelry editor at InStyle magazine, expresses the importance of fine jewelry designers showcasing their work seasonally, “When a designer has seasonal editorial presentations in New York, it puts their work in sync with the fashion calendar.”
COUTURE expects COUTURE Press Preview, which will be held in a sun drenched loft space in Manhattan, to get attendance of anywhere from 70-100 editors, writers, bloggers, stylists and broadcast media. Designers exhibiting at the COUTURE Press Preview will be announced when the list is finalized.
